OUR INTERNSHIP PROGRAM:

Each year, we select up to 4 single, college-age (19-26) interns who will be assigned to a ministry lead whose gifts and talents compliment theirs. Our internship program gives comprehensive exposure to all areas of ministry. Ministry positions for our 2025-2026 intern year include:

  • Kids Ministry

  • Youth Ministry

  • Young Adults

  • Communications/Media

  • Production & Technology

  • Small Groups/Missions

  • Worship

Key Elements:

This is an energetic, 40 hour-a-week program designed to sharpen and train our interns so that they are fully equipped to serve God in every area of ministry from the mission field to the marketplace. Each week, our interns spend time dedicated to their department in addition to upkeep of facilities and other ministry opportunities which include:

  • Discipleship Training

  • Weekly Mentoring Program

  • Leadership/attendance in our Young Adult ministry

  • Intern Retreat.

Specifics and Finances:

Each intern is responsible for his or her own personal living expenses; such as food, personal items, recreational activities, and miscellaneous spending money. Additionally, each intern will be responsible for their airfare to and from Maui, Hawaii and health insurance coverage for the duration of their internship. On-campus housing and a monthly $500 stipend is provided by The Awakening Church. In summary:

 

The Awakening Church Provides

  • Fully furnished shared apartment to live in

  • $500 monthly stipend

Each Intern Must Provide

  • Personal living expenses

  • Health insurance for a year

  • A roundtrip ticket to and from Maui, Hawaii

  • Personal transportation

Intern Selection Calendar:

Feb-Mar (Early Acceptance Period): Applications are accepted starting in February— candidates are notified and the interview process begins. Candidates may be accepted by Apr. 30 or earlier

Apr-May (Regular Acceptance Period): Candidates are notified and the interview process begins/continues— candidates may be accepted by June 30 or earlier

June-August (Late Acceptance Period): Final selections made for any positions that are still open and available until all positions are filled

YOUTH MINISTRY DIRECTOR

Job Summary

The Youth Ministry Director at The Awakening Church is responsible for all aspects of ensuring the spiritual growth and development of students (grades 6-12) and volunteers. This includes leadership of weekly programs that draw in new youth and periodic special events (camps, conferences, trips, service projects, etc.) while working closely with the Family Life Pastor and  Lead Team. Our passion and purpose is to help students say yes to God and prepare them to live a life that reflects Christ.

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Lead youth (grades: 6-12th) and their families to know and follow Jesus 

  • Recruit, train, and empower leaders/team-players(volunteers) to be a part of the Youth Ministry, which includes regular scheduling, communication, training,  appreciation, and feedback

  • Develop and implement a strategy for recognizing and welcoming first-time students and families

  • Provide regular, focused communication to students, parents, and leaders that is consistent with other communication practices at The Awakening Church

  • Serve as a primary leader and communicator in the youth ministry

  • Invest in the lives of students by building relationships, meeting them where they are

  • Adapt and prepare curriculum for youth with an emphasis on evangelism

  • Provide opportunities for youth to serve, which may include service projects or roles within the church

  • Schedule, plan, and fundraise for student retreats

  • Schedule, book and follow up with any leaders required to step in your absence.

  • Oversee all aspects of youth ministry and operate all related environments, including check-in/out, set-up, security, and tear down 

  • Act as the primary organizer of Small Groups for Middle/High School students

  • Oversee and operate within the Youth Ministry budget

  • Plan relevant and dynamic special events as needed 

  • Create and maintain a Youth Ministry “brand” within The Awakening Church, including a name, theme, décor, graphics, website, etc.

  • Participate in staff meetings, creative meetings, and leadership retreats to provide  evaluation and feedback to and from the Lead Team 

  • Build a network with local youth pastors and watch other vibrant youth ministries across the country to gain insight and develop ways to improve and be effective

Personal Responsibilities 

  • Maintain God ordained priorities in your life by putting Jesus Christ first, your spouse second, your children third, and the ministry fourth

  • Be a self-starter and maintain a deep drive to reach students

  • Give at least 10% of your income to the vision of The Awakening Church

  • Be loyal to the vision and staff of The Awakening Church and always protect the unity of  the church

  •  Invest and invite the lost to know Jesus and be a part of The Awakening Church

  • Continue to grow in your capacity to produce, multi-task and sustain organization and details

  • Maintain strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain healthy and motivating  relationships with staff, coworkers, and volunteers

  • Proficiently use PC,  Mac, and Google Suite platforms/software (document processing;  media preparation and presentations)

HOURS & Compensation

Hours: Fulltime 

Compensation: $50K-$60K
